(PRO) film which had six nominations for Academy Awards in 1992: Best Picture Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Jaye Davidson), Best Actor (Stephen Rea), best editing and best original screenplay. It was in this last category that earned him an award.
A script currently in my opinion would be so unlikely as to what the director proposed for that year. The film is light and enjoyable, and contain some memorable scenes that will not go unnoticed by any remembrance of this film in the future.
is a film that holds many surprises, something strange and rather understated, but so that lines up is hard to see things this way. And the good management of director Neil Jordan gives an air of credibility to his work, perhaps the most prominent of his films, for which fact will also be remembered.
The performances are very good. And especially for a trio shines throughout the film: Stephen Rea, Forest Whitaker, Jaye Davidson. Earned Oscar nominations for the first and third.
Controversy over the issues addressed and highly relevant today, The Crying Game is an excellent film that all fans of good cinema must watch. Ovation.
